Friends,
ricRACK is marking another big year and I’m asking you for your continued support to make 2023 even more impactful.
As you may know, in August our beloved founder Alison Parker retired. As Executive Director, I am excited to report to you the work of our thriving mission: we taught more students how to sew and hosted more activity in our reuse shop than ever before!
Your support helped divert more than 30,000 pounds of textiles from the landfill. That’s HUGE!!!! From fabulous wardrobes donated by local film productions to new fabric still on the bolt, we worked together to make that happen.
Let’s do more next year!
The most inspiring part is knowing that this year alone our instructors taught 424 kids and adults to sew - both in the ricRACK community sewing studio you support and in local schools. And, we didn’t just teach them how to use a sewing machine, we taught our students about being industrious by repairing and repurposing what they have.
ricRACK plays a major part in growing the next generation’s artistry, independence, and environmental consciousness – stitch by stitch. Before ricRACK, no organization in New Orleans was focused on waste reduction and skill building with textiles.
We have set a target to divert 50,000 lbs of textiles from the landfill in 2023 and teach 500 more kids how to sew. We need help to get there. Can we count on your support?
- Yes! You can count on me
New Orleans is a city that knows how to work with what its got, and ricRACK is working to keep it that way.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your love and support. It means everything. Here's to doing big things in 2023!
Sincerely,
Lizz Freeman Kelly
p.s. We’re trying to raise an additional $10,000 for our annual fund by the end of the year. Any and all support helps.
